  Buying a Bus, Have questions?

Radiators replaced recently with new ones

Here  we are  correcting a corroded aluminum skin spot on the rear below the radiators,..

Note the stainless steel frame is not effected ..the ugly tar is the old sealant,
the brown is old primer, the white powder is aluminum skin corrosion
The shiny metal is the stainless steel under all that mess.

Left  Side rear, Cleaning  old aluminum down to the stainless

Right Side rear , Cleaning  old aluminum down to the stainless ,

In very good condition..

On most Buses like this one
the  images of a 1987 bus would be covered in Rust on most
coaches . MCI is famous for their rust control and this is one of the best I've seen in years

For those who may not know,....
You only have a front suspension and a rear suspension ..
The middle of the coach is nothing more then a Stainless Steel flat box bottom with stringers and a
Corrugated aluminum floor to form the luggage bays. This is all stainless steel and aluminum construction...

These suspension images above would normally be covered with rust  ...
Take note all you see is the extremely heavy Under coat MCI offers along with well maintained
lubrication and chemical protection .For an 18 Year Old coach ,...There aren't  many left in this condition ...

You have to be careful when looking at an 18 year old coach, go here for more information on what you need to know when looking at used MCI's ..        Buying a Bus?

Everyone says,...Go get a southern bus, but remember they come up north during the winter too,..
Also most charter operators from the north haul loads to the south. Some times you can buy a northern bus but its spent most of its time the south also ..That's where they get a lot of their hauls to the south from during the winter ..

Plus, be careful of fatigue miles. They may be cleaner looking but how is the chassis,.. strains and cracks everywhere ...
just make sure you have someone with you who knows buses and where to check for fatigue Cracks  ..

This the main reason we use these buses for our rebuilds...They are usually in good chassis condition and not worn out .
We would rather replace parts then have to re-weld structural  again ...
